Snow Report Rant
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 13 Replies
I'm afraid I'm a self confessed web cam and snow report addict, and its getting worse the season approaches.

My excitement peaked a few days ago as flurries of snow arrived across the Alps with supposedly more on the way. However, with every passing visit (take your pick as to which site) the depth forecasts diminish rapidly.

Now, I appreciate that its still early days and that the white stuff will wax and wane, but its really depressing when one day there's supposed to be 13cm on the way and the next its down to 2cm. :x

Are they just teasing us? I've never seen it the other way round!

I quite like the idea but do take the points about the danger of skiing up hill and battery life. Everyone thought that Clive Sinclair was mental when he designed the C5- who's laughing now...er maybe not then.
Just one observation, I think you'll need more than one 'screw' for propulsion. The present design will force the whole contraption sideways rather than forwards. Perhaps a double, counter rotating screw setup would solve it. I'll let you know where to send my consultancy fee.

I have a pair of Tecnica Dragons and only one side is adjustable (the non adjustable side has blanking screws which look like Snapzz's picture).

I'll do my best to find the little booklet when I get home tonight.

Cheers for the pointers. I've got virgin media so have seen some of the shows on Xtreme- I think its 'un'tracked Rossyhead- which is quite enjoyable. They keep putting surfing on it though! What are they thinking?

And glad it's not too early for the snowdance- I have a good feeling about this season!

Skiing TV shows

Now that summer is becoming a fading memory I'm sure many of you are as keen as me to get back into winter mode.

So, I was wondering whether any of you know of any decent skiing TV shows (a la ski sunday/ high altitude)which I can watch online. I know about salamon freeski tv and that sort of thing but some of those shows are a bit too 'kawabunga' for me. As soon as someone uses the word 'gnarly' it get a bit put off- but each to their own and all that.

Cheers snow people! :)

BTW is it too early to be doing the snow dance?

I'm by no means an expert so take my advice as you find it. However, I've just booked to go to Sauze d'oulx with my beginner/ intermediate GF and it seems to fit the bill. I skied there when i was a kid and from what i remember it's all pretty easy going unless you look for something more challenging.
I'm sure others here with more experience will have additional suggestions though.
