None of which answers the question of whether or not the restaurants on the slopes in the Maria Alm region take credit cards

When are you going?....I'll be able to tell you for sure in a couple of weeks as we go on the 16th

Good question Birdy, and one I've not thought of even having gone to Maria Alm the last 6 years but its got me thinking now.
To be honest, the restaurants are so reasonable on the slopes that I don't think I've ever needed to use a card but if they did accept them, and I see no reason why they wouldn't it would only be Visa/Mastercard
They look at me in a funny way if i produce my Amex card(ski shop/retaurant/lift counter...anywhere really). Even the hotel doesn't accept that, so if your card is an Amex, make sure you have an alternative

It's not just by country that there are differences, but by resort

I have booked 6* skis for half term next month in Maria Alm and they were Eur155 discounted to Eur131.75
I have used Sport2000 but Intersport would be pretty much the same

Hi

We're off on a ski trip to Cervinia this weekend where the apres is going to be as hard as the skiing and we've been a little shocked at some stories we've heard on price of beer/food at some of the European resorts this season

Anyone have a rough idea of the price of a beer in Cervinia? as the Eur10.00 we've heard for some resorts has raised a few eyebrows

Thanks
Hi

I'm organising a ski trip over Easter (10th-13th Apr) some myself and work colleagues and would appreciate any pointers on resorts and accommodation that you guys can give me

We are a party of 6 men and the flights to Turin have already been booked. Although we are all mid 30's to mid 40's we do like to party quite hard but think that we're a little bit too old for Sauze

My original idea ( and still favoured choice) was to go to Cervinia because we should be pretty much guaranteed snow but I have been having difficulties getting accommodation for only 3 nights. We're ideally looking for something 4* with a sauna and maybe a pool but will look at any if recommended highly

Does anyone have anything to suggest in Cervinia or can you suggest another resort not too far from Turin which will have snow at that time of year?

Thanks in advance for any help

Rob

Thanks to everyone for their comments

Bit of good news. My wife went to Xscape at Milton Keynes this week and........loved it!!! She also felt a bit of control by the end too so hopefully a successful week is on the cards

I'll let everyone know how we got on

Hi

I'd like to hear from anyone who has experienced something to my wife or anyone with any advice on the following

I took my family skiing for the first time last year but my wife could not for the life of her get the hang of it

We are going again in 2weeks and she is not looking forward to it at all
She didn't get the hang of skiing at all last year but is determined to try once more. She is fit and healthy but perhaps not the most co-ordinated, but she is working hard on this

Her biggest fear appears to be vertigo. When going up on the gondola on our last day and even walking around the bar at the top she felt as if she and our kids were going to fall all the way down the mountain

For the life of me I cannot understand why as she has actually trekked the Annapurna trail in Nepal going up Everest!!

She says she will never ski up the top of a mountain as she is scared of the roped off areas ( in case she smashes through the barriers) and doesn't even like walking up there

Obviously the lack of control she feels explains it to a degree, but even if she clicks on the training slopes she is sure she will not ski up a "proper" mountain

Has anyone else out there experienced anything like this and if so what ,if anything, did you do to overcome it?...is there anyone with any suggestions on what to do

Thanks

Rob
