Courmeyeur on the Italian side of Mount Blanc is another great option - especially if you love Italian food. You can access it from either Milan or Geneva.

Does anyone have an opinion on what is the best ski machine for simulating skiing? Pro-fitter, Skiers Edge or something else.

Can anyone recommend any good places to stay in Big White that aren't too expensive? I'm looking for a studio room with a kitchenette (only needs a microwave and small fridge as my idea of cooking is warming up a frozen dinner.)

The ski season has officially opened in Australia and most resorts have a cover of about 20cm at the moment and more snow is forecast this week. I know this doesn't sound a lot to those of you in the northern hemisphere but it's pretty impressive for Australia at this time of year.

I skied at Cortina a few years back in what was considered a bad year. The snow coverage was quite adequate (partly due to their extensive snowmaking) and I was able to do the Sella Ronda which I would definitely recommend.

How true you are.
I'm always committing mistake number 1 - even though I know I shouldn't! I know I'll never commit mistake number 5. The better you get, the better you realise you can be! |

I consider myself a keen skier.
I only go on overseas holidays if skiing will be a major part of the trip. If I can't find anyone to ski with me, I go skiing alone. I've own several ski books and videos. I have early nights when I go skiing so I can ski all day. I own all my own gear. I have ski clothing to suit all weather conditions and use it. When I was a poor uni student, I slept in the back of my car at the snow so I could afford to ski. |

I can highly recommend Whistler. I was there earlier this year and had a great time. There's a variety of terrain. Some easy, some hard and some down-right scary!
