Well - on "snow domes", I took my partner to Chill Factor e on Sunday, as a special 50th birthday treat (it is 300+ miles away from us), and I can't say that it was good for improving technique on - the way it was Sunday anyway. We are more or less beginners, having had a week's beginners lessons on holiday mid February, but I found the slope in CFe so fast, that soon after setting off down, it became a case of survival, and damage limitation, rather than perfecting technique. There was also so much loose snow about, and it had been collected in lumps here and there, that it threw my skis about, and I just could not get a nice, tidy descent where I had time to practise technique.
The most important thing though, is that she enjoyed the experience nevertheless, so it made arranging the surprise worthwhile, but at £30 each for 2 hours, I can't say that it was a good improvement/cost ratio. |

I can echo all of geo's sentiments. Skiing re-hooked itself on me after 30 years' gap. Rauris was a beautiful place to go - excellent instructor (the Karl Maier Ski School is apparently renowned), and a charming resort. Our intended trip to Salzburg never materialised, so now we have to go back in the summer. Notwithstanding that, we are defo going back (and to Rauris) next winter.

Pleased it all worked out OK. I shall be off week today, so I'm hoping that my back (and another part, or two, of my skeleton)stays healthy for the next week.

OK, Touche! One of the problems of forums is of course that readers have no access to facial expressions to accompany the words, and words are just that. Maybe some of you veterans of the forum understand each other's writing style enough to be able to not misinterpret, and it may be the case with rosieposie and you Ian. For me however, being one who suffers immensely from back problems, it just seemed a little unsympathetic, hence my incorrect response. Sorry! Anyway, it's Maris Pipers that make the best chips! ) P.S. AllyG,are you Carms, Pembs or Cardi? |

Sorry, but that was not advice but an opinion based on what I would do, I would not cancel as there are other people in the equation to consider, eg family members !!!! I didn't realise that pull you self together get a plaster on it, and make sure that you do not fall over was opinion. |

That's good advice for someone who may be able to take a holiday at the drop of a hat. If the holiday turns out then to be rubbish and a waste of money, one can go again soon, to compensate. For those that would find having further time off work so soon after the holiday, and/or finding the finance for it difficult, it may be somewhat lacking in sympathy. |

I take it this answer is applicable only to those thinking of buying their boots, and that I won't get such accommodating attention during my hols! I wish I'd have known of this problem a week or so earlier, I could have paid a visit to your clinic CEM, to get help - but then again it is quite far from me. |

My post was intended in a humorous way as well Tony, but obviously my understanding of the emoticons isn't up to scratch - maybe :D would have been more appropriate? |
