Greetings, heading to La Thuile next week. Any top tips people can share on the village for bars or restaurants, or info on slopes to hit would be appreciated.

TIA.

Cervinia in Italy, linked with Zermatt in Switzerland would be a good place to look at.
Snow in Tignes at Christmas?
Started by User in France, 2 Replies
We skied Tignes mid December last year and skied all the way down to Les Brev with no problems!!! As mentioned - the biggest issue was always to much snow!!! Going again this year - doing the week over Christmas and I've no worries that the snow will be plentiful by then!!!
Check out the Grand motte webcam at present- not a lot of snow up there at present!

Saalbach-Hinterglemm would be perfect for you!!! I skied Sauze and enjoyed it - but S-H to me knocks then socks of Sauze!! Great pistes for reds and blues - ski all day - never cover the same run twice. Lovely village atmosphere and some superb authentic mountains huts whilst on your travels!
Tignes Full opening?

Greetings all - can anyone say from past experience when Tignes usually opens up the full area - once they have the conditions of course. Looking around all the webcams currently it does appear to be extensively covered in the white stuff, but I note from the interactive piste map there are still a lot of higher areas closed - eg the Borsat lift area, The de Fresse lift, the area of the Genepy run from the glacier back to Val Claret.
Just wondered when they usually get up to full speed?
Vorderglemm

Never stayed in Vorderglemm - its quite small and I expect it will be quiet in the evenings there to say the least. Saalbach is just up the road and Hinterglemm is a little further up the valley and both have a large selection of really nice bars and restaurants - these rang from mad apres ski bars to top end classy restaurants. A night bus runs - but I dont think its covered by the ski pass, plus lots of taxis.
I do suspect that Vorderglemm will be a good place to start in the morning - a new lift there now will give good access to head over towards Leogangs slope which are excellent.
