Carving - Downhill ski sliding outwards on me....Advice?

I just picked up some new Volkl AC4 (06/07) 177's and sometimes when ever I carve especially to the right my lower/downhill ski (left) skids out from underneath me leaving all the weight on my uphil ski...leaving me in a really bad turn. I'm assuming that my knees are too close together (a-frame) but I have yet to get back up on the hill to try and keep my knees the same distance apart instead of letting them get into an A-Frame type of position (also maybe I need to put less pressure downwards than laterally as well???). Any advice?
Also, the last time that I was up on the hill with a buddy who has some Atomic M11's (~170)he seemed to be carving a lot smoother than I could with my AC4's. I haven't seen myself on film but my buddy seemed to be carving effortlessly on his Atomics and to me I felt inconsistent since it was a little icey but some decent courderouy. I realize that the M11's are a shorter radius but just wondering what I can do to create a shorter tighter carve as the AC4's seem to want to run a little more down hill than carve up the hill like my buddies Atomics. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! My (Skier) Specs: 6', 188lbs, Type III |
