Shorter skis
Started by User in Ski Hardware, 28 Replies
I read recently while looking for new gear that the length of ski to choose depends not so much on your height, but more on your weight. Can someone advise a bit further?

Thanks!

From todays news in Spain:

Hundreds trapped by heavy snow in Spain
Heavy snowfall left 600 vehicles trapped overnight on a highway from Leon to Austurias and dozens of mountain passes closed.

Related Articles Snow, rain storms trigger travel chaos in FranceMADRID – Heavy snowfall trapped hundreds of people in their cars, severed rail links and forced schools to close across northern Spain on Monday, police and officials said.

Soldiers helped police rescue people trapped in some 600 vehicles overnight on a stretch of the highway linking Leon to Austurias, a spokesman for traffic management agency DGT said.

The highway reopened to cars and buses but not to all trucks late on Monday after being closed for 21 hours. Dozens of mountain passes remained closed.

Classes were cancelled for 13,000 students in the region of Castile and Leon, and for another 5,000 in the northwestern region of Galicia.

Snow reached as far south as the mountains of the Sierra de la Tramuntana on the Mediterranean holiday island of Majorca.

Five people, including four between the ages of 18 and 20, had to be rescued by helicopter after being cut off by the heavy snowfalls in Sierra de Durcal, near Granada, Spanish media also reported.

Thanks a lot folks! Yes you're right, the beer looks good, but even better in the full size photo (memories of Mayrhofen), it's just a bit twee in the avatar. There is a tiny wurst on the plate next to the beer too. But enough of my personal issues.

One of the main reasons I was happy to be relocated to Barcelona last year was not the sun, sand and tapas, (honest) but the fact that I'm a few hours drive away from the Pyrenees, and can do a round trip in a day. I just hope to meet some ski buddies now and then, as I'm not keen on skiing solo, too many safety issues.

Thanks again, a nice welcome. :D

and wanted to say 'Hi'. I'm a Brit living near Barcelona and have been lurking on the forum for a while. It seems a nice kind of place, so hope to be able to join some of the fun on j2ski.

I looked for a newbie topic, but didn't find one... excuses if there is!

Cheers,
