Yeah I agree with Dave, I think proximity to snow is a must have, and for those who have their own gear you would defenitly need space.

That painting has some Monet inspiration, I gave a copy of a monet to my OH two xmas ago. She's more into art than I am, but I can see the potencial if you invest in art.

It is a nice painting, is it framed?

I read this in a paper:

And while the prices of Stourton’s continue to rise in the secondary market and fortunes will doubtless be made by some who are cashing in on the Stourton phenomenon and beginning to stock his work. Stourton remains completely unaffected by the clamour and glamorous admirers that continue to seek his work out from all over the world.

It can only be good news for you.

Leave it until you really need the money, or if that day never comes, give to your children (if you have any) if not me and Hirsty will be honoured to treasure the paiting and take that burden of your hands :D

Don't sell the painting just yet.

This will sound horrible, but wait until the painter is dead (don't believe if someone says he drowned in a canoe trip) and the painting will be worth alot more than that.

Paintings are like wine, they are a fantastic investment. If you keep it in good shape, and take care of that, make sure you insure the painting for at least 25k, just in case.

Now it may sound like quick money but in ten years time if you see your painting being sold by 75k you will regret it big time.

Karen72 I don't think you have missed anything. However ellistine may have missed the small point that the thread has been started by a poster who is Portugese, so perfect written english may not be a given.

Fair point but surely it's better to be told of ones mistakes (karren72, the thread was originally referring to Chattel)

Anyway, I reckon the decision between chalets and hotels has a lot to do with your personality. What I mean is that some people like the relative anonymity of hotels where as other like the more relaxed intermingling of a chalet. My girlfried is more of the travelling type than myself and has no problems staying in youth hostel dorm's or in chalets. I'm fairly shy as a person so prefer hotels over chalets.

What a big misunderstanding.

I misspelled chalet to start with and after Ellistine mention it I amended the post, that's why no one saw the error.
Ellistine thanks for correcting me I apreciatte.

Now back to the topic,

A medium sized chalet, (20-30 pax) would be like a small hotel, without being so formal no? When I imagine ski I think of mountains and log cabins, so the idea of a massive building (hotel) doesn't appeal to me. But I can see why some people would choose an Hotel, your privacy is more guarded.

Hi guys

I've read a bit about the good and bad things of a Challet, now i would like to read your opinion about them.

What's best, an Hotel? Or a Challet?

Are they good things and bad things on both, what do you prefer?

in a challet, catered or self catering? What do you go for when booking your holidays.

Thanks in advance.
