We're mac fans as well here. We swapped our office pc's for imacs a couple of years ago (with a mac mini server) and have recently got ourselves ipadded up so i can bring up the snowforecast site (or j2ski) in a matter of seconds.

Expensive gear but worth it IMHO.

Son has a Mac Book - a very sexy bit of kit.
Sister has just gone totally Apple - phone, pad, imac, again all very sexy.

I will stay with PC.
3 reasons.......
Cost - bought OH a new laptop, a lot more kit for the money than a Mac Book.
Convenience - I know the PC environment well and am happy to fiddle away.
Availability of programmes - don't want to be tied to the Apple platform - too many programmes to replace!!
We looked at Mac's a few years ago for the business but the outlay of swapping was extraordinary.

Thats a common argument but i just do not see it that way. Its not just about hardware cost, its about the whole experience. For me OSX is a pleasant experience and i 'enjoy' using it. Everything is seamless and makes PCs (software) feel so awkward and hard work.

My new Mac has NO cd drive, NO Ethernet port and NO hard drive and will cost 3-4x the average laptop and i can't bloody wait.

Call me old fashioned, but I really cant see why people get so excited about faddy gadgets.

Maybe its because I can remember life when all we had was the 'outernet' !!!

Totally agree with this. I use my imac most days whilst sat at my desk. It simply whizzes along, never crashes and the whole experience is excellent although I found the learning curve to be steep at the beginning. One of the best things??..........when i finish up at night I simply walk away from the machine and then it goes to sleep. At 8.30am next morning, I tap the keyboard or wiggle the mouse and it powers up in seconds. Every time.
