Thanks very much. I saw last night there is a proposal from (I think?) regional leaders in the ski areas, to allow lifts to open to second home owners and those who book overnight stays in the ski areas, ruling out day trippers, as a way to limit numbers and allow centres to open. Not sure if that carries any weight with those making the big decisions though.

You can find the national decrees and ordinances via the Ministry of Health's Coronavirus website http://www.salute.gov.it/portale/nuovocoronavirus/homeNuovoCoronavirus.jsp?lingua=english scroll down to the bottom and click the link to " Legal and regulatory measures".

For the Autonomous Province of Bozen/Bolzano the ordinances are to be found on the Civil Protection website http://www.provincia.bz.it/sicurezza-protezione-civile/protezione-civile/coronavirus.asp

On Saturday Luigi Di Maio, the Italian foreign minister and the minister for transport Paola Di Micheli were interviewed in the Italian TV channel Rete 4 https://www.stol.it/artikel/politik/di-maio-nicht-skifahren-zu-duerfen-ist-kein-opfer they were adamant that there will be no skiing over Christmas.

Other reports in the Italian press state that the ski resorts are facing a 70% loss in turnover compared with last season, so they will obviously want to prevent any closures.

Elsewhere Alain Berset the Swiss minister for health said over the weekend that he wanted to severely restrict the operation of the Swiss ski resorts over Christmas and the Austrians are now softening their insistence on opening in December.

The regional government of the Aosta valley has approved an ordinance that will allow them to decide autonomously on the opening of the ski lifts, restaurants, bars etc. It has not yet come into force and according to the ANSA news agency, the Minister of Justice Alfonso Bonafede will ask the Council of Ministers to challenge it at a meeting to be held at 9 pm this evening.

Over in South Tyrol the regional government is looking into the possibility of opening the ski areas to residents. Arno Kompatscher the governor of South Tyrol said that "It will not be possible for tourists to visit South Tyrol during the Christmas period".
