Stuck at work on backshift with no access to TV. Just have to wait for the highlights later & try and avoid hearing the result.

During Wednesdays Ladies Super Combined race, the race commentor reported that Chemmy is deaf in one ear which affects her balance, If this is true Chemmys results are all the more impressive. I know that the olympics are all about winning medals but for me to see miss Alcott up there as our lone representive in the ladies alpine events is just fantastic.
Well done Chemmy.

Yes, if you look closely she wears a hearing aid in one ear.

She is a charming ambassador for the sport, comely - and as tough and dedicated as they come.

GS has been her best event over the last few seasons so here's hoping for a top 10.

Hi,

I agree LOTA, for the brits to have a skier who is a regular feature in the top 15 to 30 placings is a major acheivement, seeing as most Austrian children are born with skis on ,and in the french alps etc instaed of doing the normal sports at school they spend the days skiing up the slopes.

For Chemmy to get the results she does (and all our other winter atheletes) is on par with the England football team winning the world cup every four years....it's just ashame they don't kick a ball or throw a cricket or rugby ball, maybe then the government departments responsible for sports funding would increase the funding and let are sportsmen/women to be able to compete on a level field with the other ski nations.

Go Team GB

Chemmy's a tough girl. I watched a programme last year about her, she was due to take part in a big competition and was struck down with food poisoning the night before. She never slept all night, and on the coach ride to the competition she was getting off the coach to throw up. She said she would still compete after all it was only 20mins work. She did it and certainly did'nt disgrace herself. A lot of people would have pulled out.
I'm a laydee

I agree she is a nice enough girl and she was really good at sending Little W a couple signed photos, but again it is about winning not the taking part, she will never reach her potential !!!! 8)
