My first skiing holiday in Borovets, Bulgaria.

Most people's opinion of the Bulgarian resorts is cheap & cheerful and best suited to beginners.

I know some people who have been a number of times. If you end up somewhere half decent you'll get value for money. The ski schools are reputed to be good.

I know others who would rather not ski than ski in Bulgaria.

The concensus is if you are a first timer and on a budget you'll be fine.
Snow in December is a gamble in most resorts but March should be safe.

I gather thieving is a problem so keep your valuables close & hire your skis.

Not been to Borovets but i have been to Pamporovo and Bansko. The Bulgarian resorts are great for your first trip abroad, very beginner friendly and reasonable prices for food and booze. I remember my first trip to Pamporovo there was next to no snow until a few days before we went then there was a huge dump the day before we arrived and it was fine for the whole week.

There's a bit of luck involved with snow in Bulgaria but fingers crossed, it will be fine for you. If by some chance there wasnt any snow, they would bus you to the nearest resort with snow, but obviously thats a bit of a hassle.

Hi Just got back from Borrovets on Saturday the snow conditions were impoving as we were leaving but still most of the runs were not open. The ones that were open had some patches of ice or rocks :evil:
We stayed in the Hotel Flora the rooms were clean and spacious however the food was poor and always cold ...had to warm it up in the microwave. I dont think I will go back to Bulgaria for a ski holiday have been spoilt in the past with ski in Austria , Itally and switzerland

We did enjoy ourselves a holiday is always what you make it :-)
