Ski boots are a handy storage container for bottles of something to celebrate with.

Or better still, the local Spar where its likely to be cheaper and save on weight.

We used to go skiing every year for Christmas. We chose one small pressy each to open on the day and that was it. It's christmassy enough looking at the pine trees decorated with real snow. Then we always had family round on New Years day for a big dinner...which was very cheap because everything was half price including the turkey...and the Quality Street!

Like Tony said it was really good having all the pressies to look forward too after the holiday.

To be honest being in the mountains at Christmas is the best way to get away from all the tackiness of tinsel etc and the materialistic festival that xmas has become. (Obviously this is only my opinion)

I wouldn't ever allow tinsel in my house, but somehow inflicting a bit of english tat on the chocloate box idea of christmas seems like the right thing to do! Where can i get one of those shiny plastic fold out bell things?

Your nearest high street, they are everywhere right now and they weigh very little and fold completely flat! So ideal to pop in your case.

Tongue now firmly out of cheek, in fact there is something to be said for decorating the room/ chalet. I don't mean start pinning things to the walls and cieling or anything, but a few bits and pieces could make things a bit more festive.

On Christmas day we get up early open our one present each, have breakfast and then straight on to the slopes like any other day. At lunch time we find somewhere nice to eat and have a slap up meal. Then after skiing it's straight to the bar...a couple of drinks, a posh dinner somewhere and then a few more drinks. When we get back to the hotel we are all ready for bath and bed.

Decorating our rooms would be a waste really. Having said that, I don't do decorations at home apart from the Christmas tree if we're not going away.

No different from any other skiing day apart from the extra eating side of things.

I have wanted to be away at Christmas for years but as long as I am working in a retail environment its never going to happen. No holidays in December thats the contract rules for every-one. But I am sure I would treat it as any other ski day. Except a small gift each and a more luxurious dinner.
