Thanks Trencher - what's the deal with bindings? Are they uniform (will fit all boots?)

The most common hard boot bindings are the bail type. They range from cheap and flimsy http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/F2-intec-challenge-comp-bindings-brandnew_W0QQitemZ220457323166QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Sporting_Goods_Skiing_Snowboarding_Snowboards_CV?hash=item335447ca9e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 to expensive and bomb proof http://bomberonline.com/store/bindings/td3_standard.cfm .
Burton race bindings (now made by IBEX in Europe) are good for most people up to about 170/180lbs. If you weigh more, F2 titanium, Bomber Trench Digger, or Catek would be best.

Alpine SB boots have a psuedo DIN sole, and fit bail type bindings, but are not designed for DIN ski bindings. There are also some quick relase sysytems.

I've always fancied a go on an alpine board but never got round to it. Snowboarded for many years and love the feeling of the speed which I know I would get a kick out of on an alpine board. Maybe I'll have a go this winter.

I've managed to get hold of a 155 carver board. Granted it is shorter than ideal but I'll give it a go anyways...

I had my first taste of Alpine boarding today. My first reaction was not good. Christ the boots hurt and were heavy and clumpy as... well, ski boots...

I ride Duck stance and freestyle a fair bit on the mtn. The forward lean angles that seem obligatory (narrow board) were well weird...

I'll give it another go but wasn't impressed very much...

Am I missing something????
