I have only been ski-ing for the last five years and can not clock up as many hols per year as most people on here, due to both of ours work commitments.
I can honestly say that every single day of all of those holidays has been absolutely magic.
From seeing the snow storms, waking up and finding a foot of new snow, the strange outfits some people wear, learning to ski and board, being able to master the lifts, just the thrill of every single slope I have ever done, just gazing at the mountains, the wonderful dinner in the restaurant.
Every single day, of every single holiday has been absolutely magic.

Aah work commitments, Hubby self employed and will only give himself a couple of weeks hols a year, and my company just will not agree to let me have my hols during winter months. So yes it does interfere with ski-ing, but on the plus side, it does pay for it.

RoseR,
Had problems understanding your message! "work comittement", what is that?
That word "work",,,how do you do it? Is it painful! How long do you have to do it! Does it interfer with skiing?
Am I too old to try this thing, "work"?

My best memory was an early one. I learned to ski on an artificial slope so that I could go on a school ski trip.
To be honest I was kind of regretting booking the trip as this carpet sliding was quite dull.
But the first day of the trip, skiing down this crunchy white stuff, the gracefulness and smoothness of a turn, the effortless speed, the almost endless thrills - then it all made sense! Then I knew that I had found the thing.
Some people's "thing" is playing music, others is painting. But this was (and is) mine.

This is a thread I started nearly 10 years ago which has a few lovely posts on it, especially Pavel's story. I thought it was worth a bump to remind people of the stories and to add a few of their own
Enjoy
