Striking out from Turin with a reluctant skier.

Pila, as suggested above, is a lovely ski area and there is a Gondola from Aosta down in the Valley.
Another suggestion: we've got a large group going to the Sella Ronda, so you'd have heaps of people to ski with: see my post:
