Dolomites 2017

Indeed we did arrive on Saturday afternoon, but my eldest son and I went up to the Col Rodella, and skied down into Canazei.

Just returned from a great weeks skiing in Val di Fassa. The rock formations are sensational. The only downside is the sheer volume of skiers.

I guess it was busy as this year German/Austrian/Italian carnival holiday week was 25/2-5/3 (equal to our half-term), it's a very popular week in the Dolomites along with New Year period.

IT sounds like you had a great week!! I was there the first week of March. Some snow had fallen the previous few days, so we had perfect conditions ...........apart from Friday, when some lifts were closed because of strong winds and most of the higher runs were very icy (and the lower runs were very slushy). So you discovered Monte Pana! We have been going there for 8-10 years and those 2 runs tend to stay in good condition until closing time!!
This year we popped over to Val di Fassa using the new cable car to Alba. Unfortunately the snow wasn't the best as it was quite overcast and not very cold.
If you like hiking, as well as skiing, I highly recommend Lagazuoi in the Summer
Lovely places.........can't wait to go back!

Great pics, got many the same taken over the years but every time take some more, just can't stop...The Dolomites region is truly breathtaking. A wonderful place for skiing, would love to also go in the summer one day.

beautiful place, I'm Italian and I still did not go :( Next year I hope to go, so far I've only heard about it.
