Cervinia is a lovely place and considering the skiing is relatively timid I still think it's a good resort to spend a few days.

You think so?
Its certainly not difficult on the whole, but I certainly wouldn't send Stewart Dowling there, or my mates Mrs who is timid to say the least. I think it would be too difficult for them, and they're early intermediates.

I've skied Cervinia twice now, both times in December with lovely empty slopes so my impression is of wide open groomed pistes. I'd imagine like any resort the slopes are more difficult when it's busier or when there is more fresh snow.
I'm just back from Mayrhofen which was great but some days with heavy snow and poor visibility I would have much prefered to be cruising the relaxed pistes of Cervinia.
When in doubt?....Flat out.

Did Cervinia about 3yrs ago and did quite like it, however the wife hated the squat toilets which seem to be the norm in many Italian resorts. Not really a problem for us guys, but must be a nightmare for ladies in ski boots.
Skied: On snow, On water, On mud, On slush, On ice. Oh, and on a few dry slopes.

Thanks for the info on cervinia guys I've booked for a week in January 18 and was wondering does the slopes close due to high winds as I want to ski into Zermatt. Also can you get to other resorts easily in The Aosta Valley by bus

Yes the lifts can be affected by high winds, and they do close them if too windy. The gondola link to zermatt is often the first to close. Be aware that if you get stuck on the zermatt side it is a VERY expensive taxi ride back. Also make sure you dont miss the last gondola back in the afternoon.
Cant comment on the bus links to other resorts.
Sure you will enjoy it though.

Thanks for the info I'll take that on board as some one said you would be better getting a room for the night in Zermatt if you get stranded
