Erm, but I did say that you can save money for peak weeks. That statement is not limited to half term. My understanding is that UK TOs ramp up prices for several weeks - Christmas, New Year, half term and Easter.

The difference is that Xmas and New Year is the same for the Germans, Dutch etc so always a struggle to get somewhere to stay which is where a TO will *probably* win. Half-term only sometimes clashes with German schools - but they ALWAYS screw you via a TO regardless.

Also complicated by the Saturday to Saturday system everyone sticks to. So next New Year is Saturday 31st December which means probably you need to book that exact week to the 7th January to get anything.....regardless of whether you are booking a room direct.

I've just booked Dec 24th to Jan 2nd in Andorra. Rumours abound that TO's and the smarter people have worked out that Dec 31st to Jan 7th is going to be a no no for a lot of people due to work, so capitalising on 10 day trips is probably the way forward business wise. This has apparently happened in the past and looks like it will happen again this year.
