Tony, forgot to say 3 hours on a good run, longer for the return. We usually plan 3.5 hours to allow for a pit stop and to buy the vignette. You can't get it at the airport but easily available at garages as you go towards Austria. Cost for 10 days (the norm) is €8.70. Just stick it in the window and away you go.

Off there on Saturday Tony, would love to know how it went & if you have any tips. I hear the 15k run from top to bottom is quite good?

Sunday for our group. Beware the long run back gets icy so best done earlier rather than later. Long schust too, boarders struggle sometimes.

Thanks for the info, was thinking that would be a mid morning run anyway, but good to know. Any other tips, apart from those already covered are most welcome. Looks as if the snow is pretty good out there!

We went to Solden last year and stayed about 100m from the Gaislachkogl lift .
The queue was never massive and always got on within 5 minutes at the most
Blue 9 back to Gaislachkogl is nice apart from the last 200 metres which is carnage .Its very narrow and it was like skiing in sugar ,its just a free for all if you get to the end without going into someone or hitting the rocks on the right you've done well.Obviously if you go back earlier you should be ok .We ended up getting the gonadal back down the last few days to save any accidents.
I havent been to many but its the best skiing resort ive been to but not a place i would say for beginners
Gaislachkogl is the quieter end of town .We went every night to CHRIS & CO Irish Pub which had lots of sports on there many TV's and the best thing there a restaurant/pizzeria next door that brought food into the pub for you or you can just eating the restaurant. From front it doesn't look much but out the back its quite nice and very reasonably priced.
I cant comment on the nightlife as we never mad it that far

Sounds good, think we are staying near the Giggijochstabe station, which i believe the lively end, so i'm preparing for lack of sleep.

Don't worry, you'll have a good time in Sölden and I wouldn't worry too much, it's lively but definitely not Ibiza type lively.
