dean350 wrote:Thanks I shall certainly check these out. Neustift.Fulpmes and the Stubai Valley have also come to my attention due to their very close proximity to Innsbruck and the presence of a glacier.
I've been to Stubaital recently and the skiing in April is very good. We were there the week before easter and there were no that many people in the slopes, they also have a good area for kids.

We were up early so the morning runs were really great.

Thanks for posting this. It looks fantastic! Can you recall if there was a ski school at the glacier? My daughter would need lessons.

Yes there is a ski school there, I learned skiing there 20 years ago and took a private lessen last time, have a lot of friends that have used them for their kids. They have one office in Neustift and the other on the mountain.

Don't dismiss Obertauern - what the resort lacks in Alpine charm (it's mostly above the treeline and relatively new-built) it makes up for by being snowsure. In December, when everywhere else was disastrous, they had about 24/26 lifts open and although the locals were weeping into their Gluhwein because there was only 60cm of snow that was 60 cm more than most of the rest of Austria.

Thanks to all who helped me choose a resort for a late 2015 season trip within easy driving of Munich Airport. All the information was incredibly helpful. I eventually plumped for Mayrhofen as its a bigger resort and therefore more likely to have English children for my daughter to pal up with in ski school. We leave on March 26th and can't wait!

We are staying in a s/c apartment in Ginzling.

Would anyone be able to advise the cheapest place to get groceries in the area?
Also can you drive to Finkenberg gondola and park the car there every day?
Also I have seen a deal at Ski Schule Finkenberg ski school for 4 hrs childrens' lessons a day + ski and boot hire for 200E - seems a good deal to me.
