Took the good advice, Autoglass coming tomorrow, only costing £10! Thank you all probably avoided a crisis now! :)

Very sensible re the windscreen.
As well as snow chains you need ...
1 x high vis jacket
spare bulbs
warning triangle
Also, but well known, headlamp deflector and GB sticker.
It's the law in France
Recommendation is for 2 jackets, first aid kit and a fire extinguisher as well!!!!

.... and I think you also need a breathalyser kit from this year (though this may not be in force just yet)!

It should all fit in a medium plastic storage box. You will need to raise the concentrate mix in your windscreen washer fluid, and sort out a scruffy overjacket and trousers together with some gloves to wear if you need to fit the chains. It's very dirty having to feel behind the wheels to fit the chains at the roadside.
