Hi,
Heavy snow for the next few days and lower temperature's from what I can make out, makes you wonder what the rest of the season has in store.....it's only been a couple of weeks so far.

It appears that a piece of the Weisshorn glacier above Randa broke off causing a powder avalanche. Three vehicles were caught in it and an uninhabited building was damaged, but nobody was hurt. The air blast that preceded it brought down some power lines. Power has now been restored but the road and railway through Randa remain closed because of the danger of further avalanches. Saas Grund, Saas Fee and Saas Almagell are also cut off, as is the Lötschental.
Wind speeds of up to 270 km/h have been recorded (the second highest ever in Switzerland).

It's snowed like I have never seen. No skiing today, bit shit. Rupy(his wife) has eaten my left leg and the Don Perignon has run out. Last day tomorrow then will worry about getting home!
Sounds like times are hard....
I'm glad that the only emergency appointment he needs is with his bank manager. I wouldn't want to have an unscheduled stay in Zermatt without an emergency supply of cash.

Just got another text from him,
"Everything shut. Absolute b0llocks. Just hoping we get stranded for a day or so to make up for it"
Think the sense of humour failure is starting to set in!

Trains to Zermatt are running again and the road from Visp to Täsch has been reopened, but the road to Saas Fee is still closed.
If you are travelling in CH this weekend you can check the situation via these links:
Roads: http://www.tcs.ch/main/de/home/verkehrsinfo/strassenzustand.html unfortunately only in DE, FR and IT but there is an English smartphone app.

Useful link to check out road conditions in canton Graubunden in Switzerland - http://www.strassen.gr.ch/sites/strassenzustand/karte.html - and for the Swiss snow situation/avalanche reports - http://www.slf.ch/lawineninfo/lawinenbulletin/regionale_lawinenbulletins/rbnmgr/rbnmgr_c_DE
Of course - do not view these if you have no intention of going there. It's just to depressing to be missing out..... :-)
