It's my fault...
I put my snow tyres on at the beginning of November this year because I was caught out last year. They've now melted and stuck to the tarmac. ;-)
Stateside looks like the place to be this year for mucho neve.

I might just give Europe the boot this time.
Banff is not for me; I couldn't be doing with all that travelling to the lifts everyday.
It's 30 minutes to an hour each way isn't it?

Around here in the Mid West, the ski hills have started opening, and the ten day looks reasonable. I haven't been yet. The limited runs are full of boxes, rails, and park rats. We will get above 11'C on Thanksgiving (Thursday). Historically this happens once every thirteen years, but has occurred three times in the last thirteen years. It might be a good year for the US, but who knows. One thing is for sure, Els or no Els, There's more luck involved than anything else.
because I'm so inclined .....

I had reservations about the travel too, but once I was there, it did not prove to be an issue at all. It gives you a chance to let your breakfast digest on the way there, and is a nice comfortable relaxing trip back, allowing you to warm up on the bus and take a gentle nap prior to arriving back and getting ready for the evening. There is no standing on the buses, and the seats are comfortable, with plenty of leg room. You also get to see some stunning views of the Rockies, and if lucky the local wildlife.
Don't let the thought of a trip to the slopes put you off visiting Banff, it is well worth it.
