Cant pray for good wintr skiing yet.... got to get ready for the Alps in boiling hot summer weather.....and its HOT HOT HOT.....the only place in Megeve that was good was the swimming pool.

The weather during the Maunder Minimum was extremely unpleasant. Long bitterly cold, but dry winters (the glaciers in the Alps stopped advancing) followed by cool wet summers leading to shortened growing seasons, failed crops, and widespread famine. Perhaps last winter wasn't too bad after all.

As just posted in the News section - sun spot activity is currently less than expected, and the sun may be about to enter a quiet period.
The well-known "Maunder Minimum" (when very few sun spots were observed) lasted 70 years and coincided with the "Little Ice Age".
Fancy a 70-year ski season??? :shock: :D :D :D

And the great thing is that you could drive on the "ice roads" across the channel. No tunnel or ferry charges :wink:
