I don't know, but many Koreans choose Japan for their ski holidays. Must be some half decent ski areas there though.

Skiing in Hokkaido is fantastic. We had a great time in Niseko, a resort very close to Rusutsu, a couple of years ago. Mellow terain, small vertical and low altitude, but 10-20 cms fresh powder almost every day. The low altitude means that the trees are larger, (aspen/poplar I think) and so are more widely spaced, which is great fun to ski through.

The area including Rusutsu and Niseko gets an amazing 15m of snow in an average year.

My top tip for skiing in Japan: Leave your own skis at home. The Japanese airlines have crazy charges for ski cartridge and you will want to hire much fatter powder skis than your typical 'all mountain' ski anyway.
