Ski gloves

May I be so bold as to ask how much importance fellow J2skiers put on their ski gloves?
Do people pay heavily for good quality or better brands, or is it a case of the cheaper the better for some?
Do people actually take into account the waterproofing and windproofing of the material, or do they buy ones that look nice?
Do people want leather palms, a nice suede bit to wipe their snots on, and a windscreen wiper for their goggles, or are you happy as long as they just keep you warm?
Gauntlet or shorter cut?

Just wondering what forms part of peoples decision making process.

Paid about $115 for my pair just now and put 100 days in them-anticipate many more.

Got a decent pair last year (cairns) but I feel there is nothing worse than cold hands..but bought a spare pair for a fiver from lidl yesterday

I don't think its an item you can skimp on tbh.

By all means if you can find a bargain in TKMaxx (such as your wife's pair) but gloves really are worth spending a fair amount on.I wouldd say leather palms are a must, as is a good degree of waterproofing.

After messing about with cheaper brands for a few years, I splashed out on some Hestra Army Heli Gloves, a couple of winters ago. Only once have I needed glove liners since. I do get cold hands though. Also, I had got really fed up with cheaper gloves getting cut when carrying skis, the Hestra's seem to have quite tough leather on the palms. If you fancy some, buy them bigger than your glove size, they seem to size down )

You can get away with a cheap pair in good weather, but I always recommend novice skiers to invest in a decent pair. :idea:

I was told to get a good pair as it was explained to me it could make or break a holiday (was my mate being dramatic)?

Need some more so any good brand names you can reccomend would be grateful.

I always lose mine, costs me about 100 EURO a year :(

Same with sunglasses :(
