Descente, I like, predominantly for the manufacturing quality. Fashion, Trendy, etc. has never been of a concern, it's a bit like spending time looking in the mirror. I came into skiing because I was a mountaineer and a 50 miles+ fell runner, not a great background for attempting to be trendy.

I have even heard that there are some people that take several pairs of sallos with them, ~ multi trendy... all a bit girly.

I let my skiing do the talking.... was that John Wayne or Clint Eastwood?????

lol

What an absolute shocker of a crime on the slopes, having different pairs of sales to ski in, allowing one pair to dry while wearing the other, and giving alternative colour schemes. My God, I wish I had never had those different coloured ones, what a raving homosexual that clearly makes me

Imagine looking in a mirror, must be awful for you.

But at least you had a genuine reason to get into skiing, unlike anyone else, eh?

Anyway, back on track thanks to our Canadian buddy......

I have just yesterday stumbled across some outstanding bargains late season in the sales, especially on boots. 2 Seasons in my local town in particular had some absolute steals going on, so good time to update if anyone is thinking.

Very tempted by some new skis in an online sale and still have the money that I didn't spend on the chav's skiwear brand of choice for some new clobber!

Went through a fun exercise last night, I took a picture pre-season, after taking stuff out of the closet and sorting it out, shows most of my ski stuff excluding jacket (2 yrs), Gloves (2 yrs) and some other stuff.

I labeled it for this discussion. I guess that's what I'm reduced to when my local hill is closed.

Interesting pic, Canadian Skier. Would like to have seen the ski lengths, but you do operate with a range.

I couldn't do a pic like this, half of my gear is in Austria, (this will be increased next season), and half in Scotland. A combined pic would reveal a pair of Atomic 160 carvers at one end, and a pair or 2m K2 Merlin carvers, (bought in Colorado, based in Austria}, at the other. About 10 pairs in between.

The great Pavel also skied K2 Merlins.

Haven't thought about categorisng skis by number of days usage. It is easier to calculate that a pair of 210 skis I donated to a museum in Colorado, had seen between 400 and 450 days of action.....

"Dave Mac", it would be cool to see your pic with 12 pairs of skis lined up! I think numbers of days more actually describes the age of your equipment for ski, boots and some other stuff. If you are a 10 day a year skier, your equipment is of a different age than someone who skis 30-40-50 days a year. I wonder if that was the sprit of the question "how old is your stuff" in the first place? Sure, if your skis were new in 1980, and there is only 10 days on them, that is an entirely different discussion. My carving skis, were top self equipment 6 seasons ago now, but at my home hill, they only come out a few times a year. At this rate, they will last a long time. My full powder profile skis will see much more use, three seasons, and they will be pooched. It's all about the right tool for the job. You asked about the lengths, carvers are 172, all mountains are 182 and powders are 186. My last pair of straight skis were 205, but that was in 1988.

I would like to see those old 210's with 450 days!

Canadian Skier, you might have liked to try my earlier straight skis ~ 215 Kneissl White Star Racers ~ at a time when there was no such thing as grooming. So they were my powder skis!

I eventually sold them to a guy who was 5ft 6in tall.....
