Yes, when the kids were younger and we stayed in self catering we did the same, but if your in a Hotel with a pool the kids are happy to do there own thing from 4.30 until dinner at 7pm. Scrabble now and again, but not every night, maybe mix it up with a bit of Monopoly and a dvd, they always enjoy the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I think your getting the impression that we're out 5 until Midnight for a full sesh, not 2 or 3 beers
for a little bit of adult conversation. Do social services monitor J2SKI ....?

I would imagine that if you feel it necessary to talk about social services you probably feel that your comments overstepped the mark on a public forum. Of course some people lack social skills and if only for the sake of the butler I hope that the NY brings you a dash of class to accompany the forecast snow.

Tongue in cheek my dear old fellow. Sadly i no longer have a butler, i had to sack him after i caught him doing unpleasant things with my housekeeper and scullery maid in the billiard room.

That's enough fishing for one day,i've had plenty of bites.
Off to Iceland now for some strong white cider and an afternoon in the park with
a few snowboarders who are off to Andorra this Saturday.

Merry Xmas to all forum contributors whether your posh or not(i'm not btw)

For those who chose Austria, I couldn't agree more. The Austrians are welcoming and are genuinely concerned about your holiday experience. We typically go to Zurs and Lech. The are pricier, but ate higher and get more snow. We've stayed at the same hotel for 18 years and wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Our experience in France, and, unfortunently, tainted France forever.

We live in Seattle, WA, so going to Europe is like going to the ends of the earth (or coming from), so ensuring that the travel time and expense are worth it, we've selected a spot and while we continue to return for all of the right reasons, each experience is different.

And, we always stay at the Hotel Arlberghaus in Zurs. The Eggler's are wonderful people, master hotelies (second or this generation family-owned four-star hotel, ski in/ski out.

The absolute best!
Ms Liz

Been to Lech and Saalbach in Austria.
However for skiing and scenery in comparison to Italy, Switzerland but also France, both trips were underwhelming.
IMHO for scenery, food and piste preparation nothing comes close to Italy. Austrian are friendly partying bunch though.
Switzerland is more expensive then both. French mega resorts offer convenient expansive skiing. We always enjoy it when there is a good snow cover

Agree about the food being good in Austria. The restaurants in Berwang were excellent. We were very unlucky with the snow over Christmas so our choice of small resort was not a good one. Next time the motorway skiing of Friance where its easier to find alternative slopes. Our resort's artificial snow not good enough to cope with the poor conditions
