Has anyone skied in Turkey I been told its a fantastic and cheap place to go skiing and all year round skiing is possible yet I have found info hard to get.

Haven't actually skied in Turkey but went to Uludag where the skiing is. It's their largest resort and is pretty good with about 15 lifts. There was plenty of snow but no skiing as the lifts are all owned (or were anyhow) by each hotel. If there are no punters in the hotels the lifts shut. It was in April though. It has a pretty good snow record and the season is normally from Christmas to end of March.
The GB Children's team race there in International races most years and come away with a good medal haul. My son won a Silver medal for GB in the Slalom in 2002.

Uludag is the fabled Mount Olympus of Mysia. It is known in mythology as the place where the gods watched the Trojan war. It is a western extension of the Pontic mountain ranges. Its name means 'Big mountain' - the highest mountain in Western Anatolia, culminating at Kara Tepe (2543m). The ski centre, in the Uludag National Park, is 36km south of Bursa (a city of 600,000 people) accessible, either along a sealed road, or else by a combined cable-car/bus route that may be preferable when the road is icy. The skiing is mostly intermediate on lightly forested slopes that are usually open from December until late March. Heli-skiing is also available and there are vast off-piste bowls to explore, albeit a threat to conservation within the national park. There are 27 hotels, 15 of which are privately owned, providing over 3000 beds at present. Further development is underway.

Am living in Kocaeli at the moment and decided to have a weekend skiing in Uludag.
The drive up to the resort is quite a ride - snow chains are required and 5YTL (£2) to enter the park - Uludag is the another 11km from the toll gate. It is very well sign posted from main road from Istanbul - no need for a map!!
The people are very friendly and helpful - most of the people you need to meet (hotel owners, ski hire/pass people) speak enough english to get you by. I had full board hotel with ensuite for 120YLT per night (£50). You can get it as cheap ar 30YTL (£12) for a hostel type room. Ski hire was 15-30YTL depending on the level you wanted - remember, everything is negotiable (except the ski pass).
The ski pass is expensive – 50-60 YTL for a day pass (£20-24) – and this only covers you for a handul of lifts.....4-5 only. The lifts are still owned by the Hotels and they are still trying to get one pass that covers all lifts (planned for next season apparently!!!). The lifts are t bars or slow chairs.....i reckon the resort is about 20 years behind the big Europen resorts!!
The skiing is limited – if you are learning or intermediate is it superb – lots of nice runs near to bars and restaurants. If you are advanced, it is very limited – you will spent 75% of your time on the lifts!!
