Hi,
Skiing in Zakopane is very fragmented, but the resort and surrounding mountains are very pretty.
Food and drinks are superb and cheap.
If you go there you shoud definitely visit Bialka Tatrzanska for skiing where you have got a compact, but interlinked ski area served by one ski pass. The runs at Bialka are perfect for beginners. The biggest interlinked ski area in Poland is in Szczyrk, but the resort is smaller and not as pretty as Zakopane.

I wouldn't recommend Szczyrk to people as a ski destination, the equipment is outdated and it's a shame because it has real potential! Excluding the Zakopane area, i would head to either Wis?a or Szklarska Por?bia (they are just installing a 6 seat chair lift)
I live in the south of Poland, approx 10km from Szczyrk and am willing to help anyone, answer questions or even guide people in their planning/visit to Poland :)
