World Record attempt at 100 ski lifts in a single day

Iainm posted 05-Feb

A new world record attempt is planned for 11 February at the Sälen ski resort in Sweden when Oliver Kern hopes to set a new record for the most lift rides in a single day.

Kern scored his first world records back in 2007. On 8th December 2007, he skied 52 different ski lifts in one day in the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental. In February 2008, this record was beaten with 60 different ski lifts.

On 27th January 2009 Kern skied 70 different ski lifts in one day. This world record would now stand in the books for 16 years, until 2025, when he now has to beat a new record of at least 81 ski lifts.

The target of 100 lifts will be attempted in Scandinavia across the 104 lifts run in the Sälen ski region using the Lindvallen, Högfjellet, Tandådalen and Hundfjället ski areas. He plans to start at 07:30 and finish around 18:00.

Oliver Kern will start his record attempt in Stöten with early morning skiing. Then it's off to Hundfjället, Tandådalen, Högfjället and Lindvallen. In hopefully ideal weather conditions, he will let the skis glow.

If time permits, he will make a stop at the only ski-in McDonald's in Lindvallen. The last ride on the 8-seater chairlift Gustav Express from Doppelmayr is planned for around 6 pm.

By the end of the 2024/25 season, Kern will have skied in 1000 different ski resorts in 35 countries on 6 continents.
