If you're considering Sauze then consider Bardonecchia. Truly Italian resort, easy transfer from Turin...a genuine town, not just a ski resort.

Back to your original resort of Cervinia, it has more than enough skiing for a week and is certainly better than Passo Tonale, Livigno, Courmayeur in this respect. Also benefits from short transfer times and being a pleasant ski village.
Gentle but snow sure glacier skiing at top, perfect for improving your carving. Nice blues and reds back down to resort, great thing here is that slopes are all in fall line. This makes them perfect for improving your skiing. No silly paths or pistes at strange angles that prevent you working on making even turns (see latest picture from Saux D'Oulx, to me that is just adding pisted KM and mountain would have been better left un-pisted so you can ski the fall line). Lastly some harder skiing towards Zermatt.

Cervinia 2015 Skiing Off-Piste/Freeski GoPro

My edit from last week's skiing holiday in Breuil-Cervinia. we also skiied into zermatt but this edit was shot solely on Italian soil. it was quite a long transfer as we hired a car and drove from Geneva, through Mt Blanc and it took 3:30 hours in total. only thing for me was that it wasnt all that challenging. found myself dipping off into backcountry quite a bit to find a greater challenge. was still great fun though :) Check it out, it shows what a great resort it is.

Nice video. Snow looks superb. Nothing wrong with dipping into backcountry anywhere you go if you want another challenge. Maybe you should consider some fatter skis though? -)

I'm just booking to go to Cervinia end of Jan 2016, stumbled across a fantastic deal, and for the first time in ages I am planning ahead for next season while this season is still on!

Liking what I see on your video though.

Abysmal soundtrack IMO though, sorry.

glad you liked it, share it around!

they offered me some proper powder boats but as i didnt know what the on + off piste conditions were like, i didnt know how much backcountry deep powder i was going to be skiing. didnt want to choose the 'canoes' and then realise that i needed to be on piste all the time struggling to carve!

you will enjoy. defo ski over into swiss side too, Zermatt is beautiful and slightly more challenging IMO. just busier in the half term week when we went.

re sountrdack, if you check out my youtube channel and watch my edits from st anton, even though i bought the songs from itunes, they had copyright so i couldnt monetize and earn any money from these. at least this one lets me do so! ;) (wasnt my 1st choice either!)

Italian resorts are always great choice for spending your skiing holiday. I am thrilled by the blog article I've read recently - comparison of Chamonix and Courmayeur. What is extremely interesting about this article is that writer had used "If they were people" metaphor. I'm happy to share it with you and I'm sure it will help you with your decision -

Interesting article but is a bit black and white. Reality is locals in Chamonix tend to spend a significant number of days in Courmayeur. Both for long lunches but also because it has some of best offpiste and tree skiing in the Alps. I think many would argue that the piste skiing is also superior. Overall an amazing resort for a mixed group and so many options within 30min drive. Given is only 1 1/2 hrs from Geneva no idea why more Brits don't visit.
