Hi Guys has anyone Skied Sauze d Oulx, area at the start of January? The obvious concerns with early season books spring to mind like SNOW DEPTHS, if anyone has any information regarding this or any other resort infomation i.e. costs, village info or anything else that could be relevant, please let me know.

Cheers

Paul

Hi Paul
I really like Sauze it's a real town with good bars and restaurants. The skiing is also very good and extensive with something for everyone. I have been several times and would go again . BUT would not book early Jan without knowing there was good snow. I have been mid Jan and the snow was not great. I saw photos of last Christmas with grass rather than snow.to book early I would think as high as possible. If not book last min if possible when you have knowledge of of actual snow and look at web cams to confirm. Andy

Hi Paul - I'd second what Andy said - book somewhere which has access to high terrain, or wait to see where the snow's good.

Hi, skied in the area last Christmas (2016) stayed at Sestriere but contrary what was mentioned above, there was plenty of snow...think we were really lucky as it snowed a lot for a day and half on arrival. Sestriere's runs were all open and fantastic with lots of fresh snow, Sauze d'Oulx's too except the lower slopes, San Sicario had a really good skiing and Claviere but again, the lower slopes were green thus the lower connections were all by the lifts. So we were very happy staying in Sestriere, also it is central for the other ski areas...Once again, I think we were just very lucky that it happened to snow locally...The old times when the certain places were absolutely snowsure early in the season have unfortunately become rarer :( Skied in Sauze d'Oulx 3rd week in March 2013, there was plenty of snow and really nice skiing in the bright sunshine (of course except on the lower, sunny slopes)
