Hi,

We are 3 friends who are traveling for a ski trip for our first time. I keep checking Mayrhofen snow report and I see it keeps dropping 5cm each day.

Will it be good enough to snowboarding in Mayrhofen penkenbahn/Ahornbahn in those dates? We are really newbies about ski conditions and would like negative/positive reply about it.. was it bad idea to choose those dates or we will be able to snowboard just fine even on the red/black rails?

Thanks all :)

There is some snow coming for the weekend, although most of it will fall at altitude - lower on Sunday but only briefly. More snow from mid-week onward looks possible at the moment.

You can see there is no snow in the town, but conditions look ok up top :- http://www.mayrhofen.at/en/service/webcam/

If it's your first trip then stay off the reds and blacks! You don't need much snow to learn on, as long as it's not icy - which, given the temperatures, it shouldn't be.

Otherwise, just go prepared for Spring conditions; go up early, get a coffee while the morning sun softens the snow, and look forward to finishing the day sitting in the sun with a beer when the snow gets slushy... until Wednesday when you might just get lucky with some new snow.

Better than working, surely? 8)

Guys, if it gets really bad on the main slopes, then jump on the free bus and head up the valley to the glacier at the Hintertux. About a 30 min ride, but well worth it for the better conditions, especially if it is sunny.

You are going to love Mayrhofen, it is a fantastic town, and frankly I just had a great ski holiday there even though the snow was terrible (it was between 10c and 15c every day I was out there, so very slushy very quickly). Skied in the morning, and by lunch we were in the bars. Just enjoy the week no matter what the snow does, but I hope it cools down a bit and gives you something decent.
