La Rosière in the French Alps has claimed the biggest snowfall in the Alps from the recent snow storms, with, it says, 125cm of fresh snow (just over four feet) falling in 48 hours between Tuesday 28th February and Thursday March 2nd.
The resort which shares the Espace San Bernardo cross-border ski area with La Thuile in Italy reports upper base snow depths at 2.4m/8 feet.
The snowfall has stopped in most of Europe today (Friday 3rd March) but will return to most areas over the weekend with another 20-50cm of snow forecast).
Other ski areas posting the biggest snowfall totals this week were all in France, include Les Saisies and Bonneval in France with 85-90cm (around three feet); Tignes and la Plagne with 70cm, Meribel and Morillon (in the Grand Massif area) with 62cm and Avoriaz and Les Gets with 60cm (2 feet).
Meanwhile Gstaad in Switzerland is claiming by far the deepest snowbase in Europe, almost double the nearest total and seeming to grow faster than the reported snowfall. It's now at 4.9m.
