James Bond never seems to be far away from the mountains. Along with new movies filmed in ski resorts, resorts used as locations in the past continue to enjoy a 'Bond legacy' that seems sometimes a bigger draw even that having been a past host of a winter Olympics.
Last year Solden in the Tirol (above) was excitedly proclaiming it was a key venue for the latest film Spectre, whilst Murren was creating new attractions tied to their history as a location of the 1969 film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
But with no news on who the new Bond will be, or if Daniel Craig will graciously accept the rumoured £150m offer to do another two films, this winter it's the French Pyrenees that's celebrating 20 years since Bond was in town there.
The film in question was "Tomorrow Never Dies", filmed In January 1997 in the French resort of Peyragudes.
Peyragudes was chosen by the production crew as it has the only airfield in the Pyrenees – which was turned into an Afghan base and used during the first minutes of the film.
To celebrate 20 years since this film was made, occasional entertainment and various themed James Bond events will be taking place in Peyragudes through the coming season.
But there'll also be a permanent memorial in the shape of the new "007" ski run.
It's not a challenging black as you might expect, be a leisurely blue descending from 1967m down to 1600m (the height of that airstrip) over its 2760m length.
"The trail is scenic with its finish is near the forest," a resort spokesperson told J2Ski, "The finish is at the height of the altiport where James Bond was shot."
