Hi all,

I have booked a ski trip next year to Niederau at mid term and am trying to figure how much it is going to cost me when all is said and done (maybe better not knowing).

There will be 4 adults who have skied before that will all need the 6 day Ski Juwel lift Pass but what i am not sure of is will we need lift passes for 5 children aged between 9 and 4 who are all absolute beginners.

I don't want to buy passes that are not required.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Hi Peter,

As absolute child beginners, I suggest that you do not buy passes. I guess, (hope), that you will be placing them all in ski school, (do choose the Reds, rather than the Blues, it was the Reds that I worked for!)

They would start on drills, without any need for the lift on the first day, and probably the second. The 4 year old end may go into the Bobo class, using the small elevator.

After a day or two, they may graduate to the Poma, but will only need two/four, five uses on the first day. The instructor will advise you on the ongoing pass requirements.

You will be advised what time to arrive at lunch time and end of class.

At end of class, if the child is still enjoying the activity, you might spend a little time ski playing. A great location to organise this is at Bobos. The adults can enjoy a drink, sat outside, watching the young ones.

There is some info on this website, although they do not appear to have lift pass prices up yet.

I will be there in January and March, (depending on which other resorts we ski in)

I normally buy the Kitz Allstar pass, and drive over to the skiwelt on some days, but that would not work for a child group.

Where are you staying?

Peter, further to my post, from the website I included, you can get the lift pass cost information. I suggest that nothing changes for the older children. However, the younger children have free ski passes.

An extraxt: - Children born in 2011 and younger are free in accordance with the appropriate regulations.

When you get these young passes, don't forget to take their passports.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the advice.

We are staying in The Sonnenalp Apartments. Are these close to the slopes/ski school?

Do you know how long the transfer from Munich Airport is?

Behave yourself, Dobby!

I will be back in Niederau 2nd week in August, 3rd trip of the year, so far.....
Just away for a week of hill walking, painting, and catching up with my Austrian mates. Maybe the odd drink.

Peter the Sonnenalp Apartments are about 300m from the lifts, The transfer is normally about two to two and a half hours. Anything else you need to know just fire away..... Dobby will answer. :D

And my answer will be "Ask Dave Mac".... :). The OP asked the same questions on Snowheads and I said that someone on J2ski may be able to help. And you have. Good result!

You are forgiven, Dobie!

I do drift onto Snowheads a couple of times a year, but it is not like the real thing!

After a couple of years of dealing with Niederau queries predominantly only by PM, I am now cautiously responding directly.
