I have just been settling down watching TV, opened a letter from Hertz - hired a car with them in Jan this year.
I have been charged 48.60CHF for an admin fee for "providing renter data to the traffic authorities (by law)"
The letter says Penalty Type: - (blank)
Total cost 48.60CHF
It seems that I have been charged an admin fee, but what is this for as there's no other cost? Should I now be expecting a letter in the post from plod with a speeding fine?

Oooh, the old *blank* fine...
S'ok, they'll just need you to send them a blank cheque then.

I hired the car in Switzerland so that's why the fee is in chf - charged local currency
Had a vignette it was on car

Probably speeding. Same thing happened to me recently after hiring a car in Mallorca. Fixed Penalty in the post!

We had a similar one when skiing in Italy we drove down a street in the village at the wrong time and didn't see the sign that says no traffic between 11 and 2 we got fined
Best u pay up we did in the end although seems a little unfair

If I've been done speeding that's fine, will pay. However why do hertz send a bill with just an admin fee? I thought they pay the fine then pass cost directly to me?
