Hello! So we have narrowed it down to either La Plagne or Courchevel. We skied green runs and a couple of blue runs at Whistler, Canada. We are planning on going approx. Mar.12-20. (Please also provide some advice on how long we should stay, we could probably only ski max. 3 days in a row). We are visiting from Canada, so going once would not be an easy trip (or cheap for that matter). So could someone please provide some insight on the difficulty of these runs, snow conditions, prices, and your personal recommendations. Thanks!

Hi,
You will love Courchevel it has everything going for it. It's a very lively town with many shops and restaurants and is great for skiing with loads of long easy runs. I've been to many ski resorts in France, Austria and Switzerland and Courchevel is my favourite. The only drawback is that it is the place where the very rich go so it is more expensive. La Plagne I found to be uninteresting and not very enjoyable..

Well nightlife isn't really a major deciding factor for us. We're more concerned for the skiing. Does La Plagne have slightly easier intermediate runs? Thanks!

La Plagne is probably more suitable for what you are looking for. Courchevel is a far bigger and better ski area but if you are just cruising on easy slopes it's not really relevant.
They are both expensive but Courchevel is very very expensive.
When in doubt?....Flat out.

I think the long cruisy blues in La Plagne are excellent, but please don't rule out going over to Les Arcs where there are lots of good runs to enjoy.
As regarding Courchevel, I think it's a great place if you can ignore the pretentious overpriced aspect. If I was looking at an intermediate area I would rather go for Val Thorens, but buying an all area lift pass gives you all 3 valleys of course.

Maybe do 1 resort and the year after the other? I don't think either will disappoint.

That late in the season I'd opt for Les Arcs with a day in La Plagne rather than the other way round. La Plagne is largely south facing and can suffer from slushy conditions.

Since when March 12 became "that late in the season" or even just late?... :)

I went to la Plagne with my son in easter this year, now that's late. It had good snow but did get slushy in the afternoon. It was very warm, people skiing in their t-shirts lol
