A few photos taken from the transfer bus earlier today.
Tignes dam lake drained down.

I had heard that too, LOTA.
Notably, a couple of Ipads had been left behind, plus several pairs of Rossignals......

I've read that, on occasions, the dam has been drained for the original villagers to return to where their homes were and to hold a service in what remains of the normally-submerged church. Whether this is the case in the pictures, who knows.

Joking apart, LOTA, the old village is used as a centre piece for a French TV drama called "Les Revenants", "The Returned". A kind of a zombie approach to what happened to the village, when the dam was being built, and the villagers tried to fight against it.
It is drained every 10 years for maintenance.
A wee Tignes story. Many years ago, I was woken by Frau Mac, with an early morning coffee. She had been on teletext, (must have been a good few years back), made the phone call, and the early morning coffee was to let me know she had booked a week in Tignes.
"Great" says I, "when are we going"
"Eleven o'clock", says the good lady.......

It is usually drained down every ten years for maintenance, however it was drained last year at this time too so must be a bit more going on.
