After the excitement and adventure of Canada a few weeks ago I am keen to get another trip in thus season only problem the wife has no holidays entitled left!! Friends have booked Andorra which really doesn't interest me not enough piste miles.

So looking at taking a solo trip which I am cool with having backpacked around the world on my own only issue is finding a company that don't sting you for single occupancy. I worked for Silverski last and know they sell rooms off last minute with no under occupancy charge.

Question is, is anybody aware of any other companies that do the same?

Looking March 21st and will consider anywhere with over 200 km of piste.

Having done lots of solo trips, I find the best way to get accommodation is either through an internet hotel booking site (booking.com, hotelclub.net or hotels.de) or through the resort websites. Austria and Switzerland are the best bet for single rooms. Transfers can be the biggest pain, hence I go for resorts with railway stations in resort or close by!

I take solo ski and paint trips every season.

If you don't know an area, you can work through the tourist board of the area you want to go to. Expect to pay less than €30/night b&b in Austria.

Regarding travel, from Munich and Salzburg you can get a good and speedy train service into the Alps. You have access to a wide range of resorts from Geneva, although that access tends to be a bit longer and more costly.

I normally just get a car hire now. I will be away soon for another 10 days, car hire £113. Train/taxi costs generally €90/100. Having the car also gives me the flexibility to ski in nearby areas. I understand that may not apply to everyone, ~ you need to have a large area ski pass.

I have done the DIY trips before which if booked early aren't to expensive, Ryanair sale and a hostel. But I have left it late. there are chalet deals from £299 all in which would be spot on but then there is single occupancy. I may just end up in La plagne with silverski but after a 100 days of skiing there last season I fancied a change
