Inghams told us the same thing last year but the guy at the airport check in desk said that Boot Bags went free - you could always check with the airport.
My boots always go in my hold bag now and even with hairdryer, straighteners, make up bag etc I still get it under 20kgs, where as years ago I was always over allowance and had a separate boot bag. Just remember you've got to carry it all once in resort!
We flew with Monarch on another trip to Canada last year and were told that snowboard bags were allowed up to 20kgs and were allowed boarding boots in but that ski bags were only allowed up to 12kgs - who knows why

I've flown with Monarch quite a few times and whilst they're not great I have definitely flown with worse.
The premium would be worth it if your going trans atlantic as you get increased leg room better meals etc and more luggage allowance - 30kgs I think!
