Talking Zermatt, today wasn't much fun up top. Only the KM cable car running, no drags due to -15C and 60kph winds turning the glacier surface to sheet ice. Run to Trockener Steg was open but biting ice winds on the flat section reduced it to a calf busting slog. Blue sky day and I had lunch in Furri about 2.30 when I gave up and it was georgeous, t-shirt weather. It seems that at glacier height the wind can really play a part early season and with queues of 500-600 for the only lift going made for a less than perfect day. Had a sauna and a swim this afternoon and on top of my very tasty Rosti, made up for it.

Oh dear, I have been at Trockener Steg when it's windy and the Q for the KM lift was  Almost enough to make me turn around and go down. Quite a crush too.

I think it may snow for your tomorrow, hopefully the wind will drop :D

Obergurgl opens mid november. The majority of accomodation is ski in and out. Very short transfer from Innsbruck.
The only down side is that it's not cheap. I've just booked our ski passes for new year week for the bargain price of £206!
I'd highly recommend it though, especially if it's for a weekend (26th to 30th by any chance?).

Solden looked fantastic on the telly this morning, plenty of snow there, not so sure about the ski in / ski out bit tho...
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

I'm planning a week not a short break, and if it's not ski in/out that's not a problem as long as I can get a bus to and from accomodation or hire a ski locker at the lift.

Two of the lifts go down to the town so there is lift in/lift out available.

You can also stay in Hoechsoelden as well, which might well be ski in ski out by then.
