hymac580 wrote:This is not a forum for bigots to air their prejudices. Those doing it need to stop, now. If the programme was funny, that's great, but that's where it should end as far as a public forum goes.

I love my skiing, and have met some idiots on the slopes. However, these people are idiots, because of their actions, not because they're 'toffs'. I speak as a hard working, underpaid commoner.

Who's next in line for some abuse. Northerners, Southerners, Americans, Muslims, Christians?

Taking chalet holidays give me the chance to spend time with a whole cross section of individuals, and I love that.

Lets keep this forum to snow/mountain related topics

Lets cut to the chase shall we?
You are calling me a bigot because I have experience the rich posh brigade at first hand? I have met many different types of people skiing myself, and I have seen the "white trash" who have got into the sport and turned it into one big p**s up, and I have also met the other end of the scale that you see all too often in places like Verbier. I had one of my best ever weeks skiing in Verbier, but it didnt disguise the fact that most of the Brits over there were behaving exactly as I said earlier.
However, nothing I said makes me bigoted or prejudiced, and I resent those comments.

If you want informed discussion about people from different parts of the country, muslims, Americans, people with disabilities, people with red hair etc etc, go and discuss them on the relevant forums. Channel 4.com might be a good starting place for you.

Not all toffs are idiots, and not all idiots are toffs. No one said that so dont go taking words out of context.

Tony
Bigot is a strong word, maybe too strong for the situation.

But surely you have to take note. If your posts in this thread, have caused two people to object ( Bandit and hymac580), and Admin has had to sensor one of your replies, due to being inappropriate, and you have to employ asterisks in your posts to prevent further offence, then maybe, just maybe, you're overstepping the mark.

Bandit took offence to my use of a particular word, not about what I said.

Hymac seems to have an issue with me referring to a bunch of very posh and stuck up people as idiots. Like I said, I was not labelling anyone as being something that they are not. If you have seen the whole programme in question, you would perhaps understand.

Now, for heavens sake, find something important to concern yourselves with.
Havent you all got something to think about at work tomorrow, an important decision to make, a relative to concern yourself about, a carpet to hoover, or a cat to feed?

One tries not to overstap the mark, pubsinger, but if one does, one doesnt mean it. Like scapula said, none intended. Move on.
