Ok, random examples for that week :-

Self-catered cabins, Niederau, Austria - £299
Self-catered apt., Avoriaz, France - £379
Self-catered, La Thuile, Italy - £414

You have got the advantage of a low season week though, so my advice would be to leave it until ten days before you go - I reckon you'll find plenty of good deals closer to the date. Look at some of the deals on offer for the next two weeks - you should be able to get something similar if you wait until end of Feb before booking.

We have just returned from a week in Bansko and had a great time. It was typically busy being New Year, but as I teach I don't have much choice over my holidays. So there were huge queues at the gondola but the place we stayed at had a shuttle bus that took us higher up to another lift - a lot of hotels seemed to be doing that and it was the beginners pistes that were really busy, the other slopes were OK.
The pistes were in great condition with loads of snow and the mountains were beautiful.
There are a lot of apartments going up but we didnt spend any time in that area of town so it didnt really bother us much.
We were catered for by an english couple and the food was superb, when we did eat out in a recommended restaurant we had another lovely meal. All in all, a very good holiday.

I think its each to their own, Personally its not a place i would go back to.
For couples and groups of lads on the lash maybe, But for young families no.
Sleazy lap dancers pounding the streets giving flyers to people ( my 7yr old at the time )is not my idea of the family resort they are trying to promote.
As for the Brits buying property they are after a quick killing.
My views are unbiased but purely based on my experiences of holidaying there Jan 2007.

Everybody talk from his point of view, but the truth is somewhere in the middle. Bansko is one of the newest and
the cheapest ski resorts in Europe, everyone want to pay less and get more from his holiday, so that is what Bansko could offer you, everything else depend on you (your temper, behavior and willing to have a good time)
A lot of people know it, but it's hard to confess, the easiest way is to find something smaller and make it bigger.
Critique is good, but don't abuse. )
Regards :D

mitio 2005 no one is or would intentionaly abuse Bansko,We are speaking of our own personal experiences of the place.
Having travelled Austria and a little of switzerland over the last 23 years most of us will make comparisons to other countries.Criticism is good only if its constructive, Yes Bansko is a young resort and it has lots to learn from the likes of the rest of europe. With forums like j2ski where we can freely air our opinions will the likes of Bansko learn.
For example who holidays there, Age,Gender,Families or Groups.Over the years my holiday criteria has changed dramaticly, I now have a young family and its there needs i have to cater for firstly.Kind regards AJ.
