If you're bad ankle has significantly less dorsiflexion than the other this may be where the problem lies.


Do you need to do this test on a BBQ :shock:

Barney,

Most skiers do not realize that they have a "dominate" side. You may be using one side more than other.

Also skiing cramps often occurs due to low water intake.

Another possible cause id too tight ski boots. Poor blood flow = poor oxygen to muscles.

Pavel, thanks for the feedback. I'm likely to be right dominant as I am right handed.

I can dismiss cramps as the pain continued into the evening, even after drinking lots of water. My boots are tight but not on the calf, just round the foot.

The pain eased by the end of the week so I'm not too concerned. I'll be paying closer attention on the next skiing holiday.

It's noy necessary for boots to be too tight aroub calves to cut the blood flow. Too much pressure around the foot may result in cramping too. Definitely pay attention next time you ski.
