Id take both away then decide on the day which to take out. You dont wanna be there wishing you had the Canon when you just cant get the photo you want with the Sony.

I just use a small Pentax (Optio A10) fits esily into a pocket ...quite easy to take good pics in the snow .. when on auto, it is so bright you get a high f stop and fast shutter, so good focus and depth of focus.
I was pleased with these ones because they are not cropped
..Look for the picture before you get the camera out.. cheers

Spot on, Scap, the composition is everything. You have an artists eye.
Just the one. :-)
I use a Panasonic Lumix, and it is my second one, good shots and good videos. I was very happy with my ski vids, when I held the camera in one hand, and 2 sticks in the other. There is software that cuts out any sudden shakes.
Quite handy when one has a surfeit of the foaming brine!
