When you put a snowboard on each foot, you ski powder like a snowboarder - surf it

Absolutely! what an awesome feeling too! I bought my JJ's last season when we had a snow drought and I was afraid that it would happen again, but I already had 5 powder days. Even if it was just one day a season the ski totally transforms the powder experience. So worth it! When I bought my current day-to-day skis they were also marketed as skis for powder, but they are not even close and so much more work too.

Tin Pot - your second picture is very nice. I like the look of that nice tree lined powder run. Where was it taken?

Powder technique is all about movement. Practice short turns on a groomed piste exaggerating the movement up and down with your legs (not your back) through the turn cycle. Then move to some moderate powder at the side of the run and repeat, progressively moving to deeper and deeper powder. Stay centred over the fore and aft of your skis throughout the turn, as you would do on any terrain, do not lean forward or backwards.

That was after iirc 57cm snowfall, in Megeve - the run is a red, Belle de Mont D'Arbois.

If it had been groomed, or my technique up to the powder, it would have been a lot of fun. The following section looks like its off a cliff until you hit the edge.

Thanks for the tip - ill try that too.
