We are booked to go skiing in Ischgl for a week from the 6th February 2015. We are worried about the snow especially on the lower slopes is this a problem? Please let me know what the current skiing conditions are like as we are coming from Africa so is a long way to travel!, many thanks

Looks fine. Plenty of snow forecast to resort level over the next week or so and cold.
All runs open to resort at present so that should stay the same for your trip.
Have a search for webcams around the area and have a look - always helps me to see the white stuff!

Bear in mind that in Ischgl, virtually all the skiing is done higher up. Most people only hit the lower slopes when heading home at the end of the day. So if the lower slopes are not in good shape you can always take the lift down. A lot of people do anyway because the home runs are pretty steep and can be a bit chaotic during the mid-afternoon rush hour .

On the other hand, most people overlook them earlier in the day when they can be deserted and perfectly groomed so often worth a look .

A good idea is to head over the Swiss side in the morning as it is South facing and is usually in lovely condition early, though often somewhat too soft in the afternoon and then make your way back to the (North facing)village side later on when the slopes have softened just enough to make for great skiing .

Its a great ski area and an extremely lively après town as well . Don't worry, you will enjoy yourself .
